THERMAL CENTERS

Turkey is one of the rare countries having underground healing water sources in addition to its beauties. The health resorts and hot springs are established near healing water sources. Their healing traits have been known for thousands of years. Hot springs gushing from underground used for the treatment of various diseases is called şifalı su (healing water). These healing waters are used either as bath or içme (hot spring) depending on their temperature. The spring where they come out to earth are called kaynarca (thermal spring). The springs used for bathing and on open air are called Ilıca and mostly there are artificial lakes where the water is collected. The general opinion of scientific world is that thermal springs are effective, however they will be more useful if the physical and chemical characteristics are known better, for every healing water has different chemical and heat characteristics. May and September are the most suitable months for those health resorts. However we recommend you not to attend one before consulting your doctor.
